If you ever visit the states be aware that iced tea to them is unsweatened and just tea that has ice in it. Totally blew my mind the first time I had it

Really? :o

I'm glad I know this, because I love the iced tea I get here. It's sweet and just so delicious. I go through boxes of it every week lol. It's goes faster in my house than chocolate milk.

I don't think I could choose a favourite cheese but I think I like Havarti a lot, it's not too strong a taste that you can add to a sandwich but can still be eaten on its own

creamcheese or goat cheese. It all tastes the same to me. Great on bagels.

Sharp cheddar. It's a dense and flavorful cheese which is good a variety of ways. I usually prefer cutting off a hunk from the block and eating it straight, but I also enjoy having it on wheat crackers as well.

Seems like cheese flexibility is an important factor.

I love me some sharp cheddar, it's just more satisfying than non-sharp varieties, something about the flavor which is so...savoury. I haven't tried Havarti before actually, I keep meaning to but it's substantially more expensive than cheddar here.

Sooo... outside of alcohol what's everyone's drink of choice?

Green tea is my favorite. I like to turn it into iced tea then infuse it with fruit like lemons or strawberries.

    Vanilla Coke.

I used to drink 6+ cans of soda a day up until a few years ago. This year, I'm averaging about a soda a month .. cut down for the sake of my health. But I sure do miss it and crave it hard sometimes. :(

You're a stronger person than I am. I tried to stop drinking pop and only drink bottled water, even bought myself a water filter for the fridge and still end up drinking pop. Not nearly as much, but I also don't just drink water now either, it was too hard.

I'm surprised the few times you do have it doesn't cause it to burn your mouth. I quit soda last year and after only a month of not having any then having one I couldn't handle the stuff anymore. :(

What kind of pop is your favourite? The only time I ever drink it is in mixed drinks but even that I'm cutting down on to drinking on the rocks

I have this huge collection of pop at work that people keep eyeing, I use it as a bartering tool to get the purchasing manager to do stuff for me that I need done right away because without it he just passes it onto someone else to do. For lunch he'll have a bag of chips and a can of coke, by now he probably has coke pumping through his veins.

Tripe is delicious although there's not much flavour to it and is kind of chewy. If some of the meals that your mom grew up were pretty common to her I'm surprised she fed you more of a western diet instead of a polish one.

This is most definitely the result of my father, who was born and raised in the US. Whenever I mention Polish food he makes an icky face, so I can only imagine there was not much Polish fare while they were living together.

I drink a lot of Coke, mostly because my boyfriend buys cases of it, but I'd rather drink gingerale.

I can't stand the squeaking sound a cheese makes  :S

Makes all the hair at the back of my neck stand up. Shudder.

It shouldn't taste soapy at all... makes me wonder if they are cleaning the cups or kettle correctly.

I suspect they're either reusing/reboiling older tea leaves. Lol. I got access to legit green tea so I knew right away that something was off about the ones they're serving. They used to give you actual tea bags and a hot water dispenser that you helped yourself to, Idk if it's the economy or "efficiency" but now it's all premade and been sitting out for who knows how long, that could have something to do with it.

That would do it. Green tea that brews or sits too long or at the incorrect temperature tastes really off. Mostly bitter, but I could see how it'd taste soapy too.

Squeaky cheese is actually good though! When it comes to curd, if it doesn't squeak it isn't fresh. I love me some squeaky cheese curd.

Why not make your own? It's a lot fresher and you could probably reduce the sugar by the teaspoon every week until your tastebuds adapt

I love green tea but I find Japanese restaurants in my neighborhood have bizarre tasting green tea, like soapy even. *shudder* I like green tea plain, hot and cold are both good with me but I prefer it plain. I still prefer black tea over green though. I like the astringency

I really like green tea in Japanese restaurants around here because I think they tend to use genmaicha. Originally I thought it was weird because it tasted like they just boiled water in a pot with burned rice but that taste totally grew on me over time

never eaten cottage cheese before, to me it's always looked like sour curdled milk and I can't even drink milk if it's been out of the fridge for more than 2 minutes because it's gross.

You're a stronger person than I am. I tried to stop drinking pop and only drink bottled water, even bought myself a water filter for the fridge and still end up drinking pop. Not nearly as much, but I also don't just drink water now either, it was too hard.

It was INCREDIBLY difficult to do. I relapsed and cheated more times than I could count. I had a soda a day at LEAST for 20 years, and 6+ a day for 5 of those years. It was to the point that water was disgusting to me. It made me feel physically ill. I drink nothing but water now ( with flavor squeezes ) and maybe a bottle of Snapple once a week. I'll pop a can when I'm really stressed out or am celebrating something special. If it's something on your "to do" list, I have no doubts you can kick it eventually. Take it slow! I had to ween myself off it slowly over the course of like 2 years. :)

Oooh, no, I've never had that happen. :o The exact opposite actually .. it tastes so much better to me now that I have it so infrequently. Every time I have it I am always tempted, "just one more .."

I have a huge tea collection However I don't take it as seriously as some other people do. Like I only guestimate with the temperature and don't actually wait for my boiled water to cool to the recommended temp that's on the package.

If it's for myself I pretty much steep for as long as possible. Like until it gets cold and then I drink it. Unless it's green tea/erl grey/breakfast.

I do enjoy food but I'm also really practical about it. I know what you mean, I don't even like eating out that much because it's always this huge process of coming down with a place that everyone is ok with...and along the way somebody gets offended and then it's just awkward and I could just do without it all and stay home for some ham and cheese sandwiches.

I bet it would be a lot easier for me if I didn't have cases of pop in my house all the time. My boyfriend is a pop nut and ALWAYS has a pop open. Probably drinks 6 or 7 a day so it's always there. I always have a case of water and drink that but the pop tastes better.
