If it is trump v clinton, I think voter turnout is going to be incredibly low. Lots of republicans refuse to vote for trump and lots of dems refuse to vote hillary. It is going to be "well, I think so and so will be less damaging" but that still isn't enough for lots of people to vote for someone they hate.

It'll be fun to see Bernie fans and non-Trump republicans jumping ship in November.

Well a lot of Bernie fans have the caveat that we love Bernie and we'll stick with him until the bitter end BUT will vote for Hillary if she gets the nomination.

If Bernie doesn't get the democratic nomination (and win) this country is absolutely fucked. I don't want a racist, homophobic, piece of trash that is the product of big business corruption to be my POTUS/CIC. Nor do I want some lying sack of shit that refused to help an ambassador, and various other people, who ended up being tortured to death and raped.

If by jumping ship you mean voting for Hillary, I wouldn't imagine any non-Trump republican would do that, because I would argue that a "non-Trump" republican is a true republican. Everything Hillary and anyone in the Democratic party represents pretty much goes against everything those voters stand for. I'd imagine you'll see decreased turnout because they'd rather not vote, or maybe they'll opt to write someone else's name in.

I predict that this will be a critical election. I think there will be extremely high turnout as people gather to stop Trump. Likewise, a lot of Republicans will gather to stop Clinton, as the Republican Party's advertising campaigns against Clinton has been pretty effective on public opinion.

    I second this thought.

And Bernie has done the damage, calling out the Democratic Party on their shit and Trump has ruffled the entire Republican Party. I think this will be interesting to see, regardless of who ends up on the ballot.

I doubt the US will be fucked though. The Republicans said that when Obama was elected. And I don't doubt the Democrats said that when Bush took office. I think we'll keep going. But I suspect the dissent against the party system will only grow. Trump is awkwardly undiplomatic and in that sense, he is anti-establishment, while Bernie is anti-establishment as well in other regards. People are taking notice to the shady political practices, more than ever, with social media and the vast network of available information.

I think this anti-Trump campaign by the Republicans is ridiculous. It's always this "we know better than you" attitude with those guys in office. Their voters are VOTING FOR TRUMP, that's why he gets to be the nominee, see? At some point, the people in charge of the parties decided they would be the ones in charge of elections, instead of the PEOPLE. If you didn't want Trump in office, you shouldn't have fucked up so much that people view him as their savior for the party.

Which leads me to this even more utterly ridiculous situation with the supreme court, where the republicans, who freaking BOAST that they're the party of the constitution, think it's somehow okay to obstruct it! Like, how are you keeping this straight face (albeit fucking ugly playdoh face [Mitch McConell] your face looks one step above the villain from Hannibal [2001]) while declaring (even before Obama announced his nomination) that you and your party wouldn't even consider them? YOU HAVE ONE JOB! Like, Jesus, what the fuck is going on.

I will continue to fight for Bernie to be the nominee, but in the (increasingly likely) chance that he isn't, I haven't decided if I would for Hillary. And I don't think Trump would be nearly as bad as some people think he would be, although in no way do I think he should be president of the United States.

I actually think Trump will not be as terrible as a President as many think, because of the checks and balances. I think Trump is a terrible human, but even most senate repubs hate him, so it isn't like he is going to be able to get much crazy crap done. Presidents can do few things without approval from the other branches. So as much as I hate Trump, I think the fear-mongering produced (by both sides) about his ruining the country is overblown. Having said that, I still think he is a terrible human.

Hell, because no one even knows what his political ideologies are, maybe he will compromise and try to work with other sides? Something that hasn't happened since Reagan and Clinton.

Yeah, that was my point. He's not stupid, he's tapping into this persona of a crazy person because voters are eating it up. That's not to say he isn't actually racist, or that he doesn't get off on inciting riots at his speeches, just that I think it's all calculated and he wouldn't act like that in office because he won't need to. Foremost he is a businessman from NY, and I think he actually has a pretty moderate and in some cases even liberal (compared to other conservatives) stance on fiscal and social issues. He's a salesman, and right now he's selling the most profitable version of himself.

I feel like this really sums up the Trump situation nicely.

I just can't reconcile the fact that it's a complete gamble (with Trump or Hillary even). Will we get the racist, sexist and hateful Trump who throws childish tantrums? I can't stand that we won't know until we're in that situation.

HE WOULD HAVE THE NUCLEAR CODES. THAT DOESN'T HAVE CHECKS AND BALANCES

Is there not a fail-safe for our nuclear weapons? I'm not really familiar with how the nuclear codes are handled by the president and how he can go about using them.

Welp, it looks like Bernie dropped out. So it is definitely Clinton now. You guys think the repubs are gonna let Trump be the nominee?

^ This which doesn't matter because the delegates get split 50/50 between him and clinton.

So he didn't actually drop out of the race right?

Omg I would be so sad. I can't find any verification that he has dropped from the Democratic race for the nomination.

I bet the media is trying to plaster it like he has dropped out - a great way to get his supporters to fear the worst and falter. Most liberal media sites have publicly backed Hillary and done everything to black Bernie Sanders out.

Hillary beat him by .5% of the votes (like 1500 votes or some shit), and instead of costing the tax payers money to do a re-count he decided it'd be better off to just concede. As I mentioned previously -- he may have 'lost' to Hillary in votes, but each of them receive half of the delegates from that state. I'm pretty sure we'd have at least a statement from him declaring the end of his campaign.
