I've never bought anything electronic online, but usually it seems like you can get stuff cheaper. What are advantages/disadvantages to buying online?

Pros: Cheaper, wider range, can get almost anything.

cons: Shipping, loss of items, dodgy ebay sellers, can take quite a while, usually no warranty.

I love ordering stuff online. You don't have to go out to a certain store to buy a certain thing you want, it's fast, and it's easy. The only disadvantage with online buying is you have to wait to get it. So if you order something Monday, it'll most likely come Wednesday. And you can only get it on business days. So if you order something on Friday, it'll most likely come Tuesday. If you go to a store though, you can get it right away(if they're in stock).

offtopic: post #100!!!! YAY!! It took roughly 9 hours, but I did it!*feels proud*

I almost never buy anything in the stores anymore. I always check online first and almost always find it way cheaper then the normal stores especially electronics.

=[ Another con is the fact that most things post to USA, not many things post to Down under...

It really depends at what you are looking at buying... If it was PC components, definitely online. If it was a television, definitely online... but I would have saw what it looked like in a store wink.gif Other electronics, probably still online.

So you would rather have the satisfaction of knowing you can return it at any time and are willing to sacrifice a price difference (Occasionally quite large, like on TVs, Best Buy is a rip off compared to online stores).

I think when people buy things like TV's it makes them feel better to be able to touch the one their buying, and have the definitely location to return it to if it screws up. Its a lot of money to risk, no matter how small it is.

That's a good idea.. Taking a look at the item you wish to purchase in a store, before purchasing it online...

But most retailers have good return policies if whatever you purchased is damaged. There are even very reputable online stores like Newegg which blow Best Buy's prices out of the water.

For someone who is online so much, I really am out of the loop when it comes to buying online. I'm definitely going to keep it in mind for next time I need to buy something.

Both.
What it is/how much cheaper it is then in stores.

I always make sure to check ebay as well, might get a even better deal.

I never check ebay, it just doesn't seem like a completely safe way of getting something. I prefer going to a site like pricegrabber and finding the best deal on the item I want.

I guess my cousins have a friend who got in some deep crap cause he sold a picture of a video ipod to someone for $200, and they obviously reported him. What a stupid scam tongue.gif

as long as you buy stuff from people with good high ratings you should not have a problem. I have bought a couple dozen items from ebay and haven't had any problems yet.

There is no way in hell I would go to a store on Black Friday, unless I needed something pretty damn bad.
