QUOTE (Kitsune @ Oct 9 2008, 05:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Laughing at someone when they're being a tad ridiculous is reasonably fair. And stubborn is an understatement. Your overall tone makes it hard to actually make an effort in replying when it's like talking to a brick wall you see.
I'd consider a clear difference between insulting someone and telling someone your objective interpretation of a person which they aren't going to enjoy hearing.

I warned him for calling me a retard which I took offence to. I'm not going to warn myself when the guidelines for earning a warn have not been met in my case. I'd consider Calum to have been fairly biased on the topic as he appeared to be basing his opinions on his own experience rather than any form of research. And in doing so came off as ignorant on the topic, again a mere observation on my part. If I had of simply said 'drugs are bad, I know this because I learnt it in school and have never touched them' then I'd expect to be called ignorant and told to get out of a debate topic I know nothing about.

HAHAHAHAH. That just made me shit my pants. I see a trend in most of your later posts.. You seem to be manipulating/ignoring a majority of my arguments and simply sending personal attacks at me (which is the sign of a person losing a debate sad.gif).

You obviously don't know how to debate. You're ignorance makes me wonder as to why I even waste my time reading your ignorant excuses of posts.. Really just shut up, and get out of here.. come back when you learn proper debating. K? Thx.
(I really don't understand how that's not flaming, but ok rolleyes.gif)

QUOTE (SidaZoid @ Oct 9 2008, 05:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Get a room you two. You're both as stubborn as eachother, and the fact the conversation has turned completely into who's better at debating proves it. You both have totally opposite opinions and refuse to accept anything the other side says. Instead of "I suppose...but" it's all "No because".

Well it wouldn't be much of a debate if we all agreed with each other or rolled over at the sight of one response. Plus, there's a reason why this debate has gotten so much damn attention tongue.gif. Not trying to be cocky.. but a good majority of the topics that I've started in this thread get a lot of posts/views.

Granted, the debates here tend to extend way to long because there isn't any moderation.. but there's really nothing we can do about that.

And just to add.. I've been much more receptive to arguments concerned about reasons concerning the complexity/corruption of the government.. you can go back to my earlier responses to see.. but the fact of the matter is an argument concerning the harmful medical effects of marijuana is not a viable one. I've read glimpsed over extensive researches on why marijuana is illegal and none gave its harmful effects as a source. I havn't even heard mention of such a claim before this thread (and furthermore, I couldn't find strong, trustworthy support on such arguments with extensive google search) .. And in fact, marijuana's positive effects are cited as a reason to legalize!

Yet, these two over here find a few misleading biased articles that exaggerate an insignificant study and they think they've figured it all out. And to top it, they just go on and on defending these ridiculous articles (over and over again).. quoting statistics books.. calling me ignorant and inferior. So maybe you can see where I'm coming from.

And Kitsune will probably come soaring in picking out a few of my statement, twisting them around, and attacking me.. maybe even granting me a warn rolleyes.gif

How could I ever say "I suppose" to that?

The medicinal benefits of marijuana? That would be pain relief I believe, which from what I have seen, is prescribed to patients in considerable pain. From the standpoint that it should be legalized because of its medicinal uses, many other pain killing drugs should be legalized as well?

I can't really think of any positive effects besides that tongue.gif

It has qutie a few more medicinal uses than just pain. I personally think the argument stands not on whether it has enough positive effects to be legal, but whether it has enough negative effects to be illegal.

QUOTE (Kitsune @ Oct 9 2008, 08:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Nope, actually I'm finished here, I've been finished with the debate for some time as you'll notice in my lack of posting on topic. The reason I was replying to you was to attempt to clarify some of your misconceptions and misunderstandings of what I had said. But you've made up your mind already. About the topic, about me, about everything.

Also, on the paragraph where you attempted to replicate what I said to Calum, you're not basing that on any actual evidence thus far. Unlike where I actually use examples as to where a person is failing and how their arguments are wrong, you've done none of that which is why your paragraph comes off harsher.
You also seem to have forgotten about the changes to flaming rules.

On a final note, I am sorry if I've offended you, I knew you wouldn't like hearing some of what I said, I didn't realise you'd be as offended as you clearly are. I came into this debate trying to take on others views and hoped others would do the same from my views.

See Kitsune, the truth is that you've responded to every single one of my responses. And more lies.. you havn't been clearing anything up.. your last few responses simply repeated as to why I was ignorant, inferior, misinformed, etc.. don't try to glorify yourself. As I mentioned before, I actually am open-minded to this topic.. other than the completely unfounded basis that marijuana is harmful to you, which is why I've spent 4 pages of posts trying to convince you of how ridiculous you're being, but that worked rolleyes.gif

And that paragraph was not just a replication, though obviously sarcastic I was being rather honest. As I've mentioned numerous times, your last few posts have been nothing but personal attacks. That's not proper debating. Furthermore, I truly truly understand that you've been explaining your arguments very thoroughly.. but that doesn't change the fact of the fundamentals of your argument is completely flawed; the articles you cited that "justify" your arguments really don't provide enough evidence of anything.

And I assure you that nothing you have said has offended me in anyway. Again a manipulation of words on your part. You've simply stated yourself that "I was being immature" and that you "had never said anything insulting in any of your posts" and I just found it ridiculous that you could say such a thing given that your last posts have consisted of nothing but personal attacks (that you seem to think are justified because I'm an idiot rolleyes.gif".

And please, don't attempt to create a false image of nobility in your leaving. You're only leaving because I said you'd reply. You're just stubbornly contradicting me as you have for the last few weeks lol.

But nice try.

Um, there's a rather big laundry list of benefits. I came across an article citing that it promoted neurogenesis in nature.com (your sources don't get more reliable than nature.com in the world of biology). Google it.. you'll find a wealth of information.

There's a reason that it's legal for medical purposes in California and that 13(I believe) other states have bills for the legalization of its medical use.. though I'm assuming those bills never went through. -sigh-

Why you've never heard of this? Probably due to government censorship. The medical field universally has accepted that marijuana has health benefits, but the government (FDA) refuses to accept this. It's a sad world we live in with such a government and fools like Frizzle who eat up anything it shits out at us.

All my 4th grade dare class taught me was that marijuana was addictive, a gateway drug, made you go psychobitch and hallucinate and kill ppl..

Source's aren't reliable though. What we call "bad research".

From now on, I'm going to ignore STD or whatever his name is.

Yes because the Washington post talking about a study done by the University of California at Los Angeles is of course a bad source. Seriously are you stupid? Oh wait I am flaming now, I might get warned by the almighty Kitsune. The hypocrisy on this forum is so stupid, if a debate becomes heated and even if there is a little light flaming you really just have to lump it, otherwise the argument will never get anywhere, also personally i think you should warn yourself, probably me and frizzle for the light flaming given to each other if you are going from this point (this is aimed at Kitsune). Also for your information since i was 14 I have been able to get marijuana delivered to me between 10am, and 4am every day, you can't say that having access to weed 18 hours a day just a phone call away was harder for me to get then booze being under-age.

Don't call me STD and don't ignore me, it makes you come across as a young child who has just been told he is wrong and is now going to sulk and run around crying, its pathetic. I posted hoping someone would create a decent counter argument, all i have seen is petty fighting. Sort yourselves out codex.

Anyway I can't find a direct link to either of the studies but here is one posted on science daily on the Harvard study.

http://www.scienceda...70417193338.htm

You can find references to the studies everywhere so don't try and tell me the study didn't happen and my sources are unreliable. Finally if you choose to ignore me then I will presume it will be because this response is so good you have nothing to say to it (wow I can be as immature as you) and that would mean that I won the debate (yay) so I look forward to your response, and please keep it civil and on topic, I feel like I am the only one really trying to have a debate.

smile.gif Please go read the rules, in particular about how a person gets warned for flaming. Otherwise you're just spouting rubbish and we can't have that now could we.

No one is debating just so you know.

And some people will choose to ignore you because it's not worth arguing with a wall. It gets a tad tiresome.

Fair, I can see why you warned him, I find it a little bit of a stretch there, but hey I'm not here to argue over the running of a forum. I am not a wall, all I have really posted in this thread so far is marijuana doesn't cause cancer. I don't see why this debate can't get back on topic and continue maturely. Tell me how marijuana causes cancer and my argument falls apart. Show me how marijuana is so harmful that its users deserve to be jailed and filling up the prison system and my argument falls apart as well. Show me how if you legalise it then it will cause more damage then it does currently...

Whether it will actually help you medically I don't know, but Calum has adhd and at one point it was bad. He'd argue with his mom and 2 minutes lates doors would be broken etc. It also made him an absolute twat whenever you tried to tell him something he didn't accept. We smoked a shit load of weed at one point, and I mean loads. His ADHD got so much better, like seriously better, and now that he's quit it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

That's through the eyes of a best friend that lived at his house for like a year. It was the weed, I don't care what anyone says to prove otherwise.

I feel that, if we placed the typical high-dose user of alcohol, tocabbo, and marijuana beside each other, the health detriments of the two former are bar none worse; in that case, I'll choose not to debate that, unless Kitsune further wishes. If that is the case, but "the government does have to protect people from themselves, not just from each other" is also the case, what is the measuring yard by which the government makes the existing distinction?

Don't worry it has nothing to do with you. She's simply going to discredit anything you say because you have a different opinion from her. And I don't suggest you try to to convince her otherwise.. talk about arguing with a wall...

It's evident that this is a controversial topic and it would appear that people are taking things a little personally. I'm going to allow the topic to stay open, but I'd ask that everyone keep to the topic. If you can't refrain from making personal statements, I'm gonna close the topic.

Eric: If you're not going to make a stance on the actual topic, please don't serve to contribute to the animosity.

Freak: Chill out.

Burning something releases carcinogens which when released into the body mutates cells. This then causes cancer. This is increased when used with smoking paper and tobacco.

Just because the two have a correlation does not necessarily mean they are linked. I started smoking when I had asthma and now I don't have it, does that mean smoking cured my asthma?

There's a reason I made statement about us being best friends, more specifically because I knew someone would say what you just did. I know the difference, I know for a fact it helped him. People say personal experience doesn't help, I beg to differ.

You finally understand this concept! So Marijuana does not cause mental illnesses! thumbsup.gif

In terms of the ADHD and marijuana correlation, you're absolutely right. Weed doesn't cure adhd. From sidazoid's description, what's probably happening is that weed is suppressing his anger and is just making him more apathetic. It kind of gives you more control over your emotions so you don't get infuriated and blinded by anger. So it even solves family problems! Of course, when mommy finds a bong and a few bags of weed, different problems arise...

Theres no conspiracy about it. 85-95% of the money from the drug war, I will bet you, probably comes from straight up grass (see: American Drug War, the movie.) More profits than money spent on the war? Either one is possible. Bureaucracy doesn't have to be productive. If bureaucracy were productive, then why the fuck does corn-based ethanol have the popularity it does? The fact of the matter is if you have a big enough government, it isn't made much of an issue, and that's why America is in the shitter right now.

You have no need to preach your 12th grade economics class to me when I already agree with you, but thanks for trying.
