You're free to do that, but I've people just spray something random into the thread and just take up space, and do that until the active topics page is full of generic introductions or random posts in threads, which people have to dig through and see if they are even worth reading.

Even with that, when I've asked people in the past to slow down, I've even been told to Fuck Off and stop telling them to do anything like they don't have to listen to anyone, though that hasn't happened for a while.

:p

Great guide!

Considering the daily number of people online, 50 post per day is pretty high.

Considering upwards to at least 40 members and many more guests are on during the high hours, I'm surprised there are only so many posts.

    Really, 50 posts isn't much.

Time spent reading the latest responses to a thread: 5 minutes
Time spent thinking out a response that hasn't already been ground into the dirt: 3 minutes
Time spent turning that response into the typed word in such a way that it doesn't accost the eyes of all who read it: 3 minutes

You're right. All a good proper response should take is about 11 minutes tops (depending on how far behind on the thread you are)

Hmm I haven't noticed any spam from him

Also back in the day, during our like 100 post contests quite a few people got in the triple digits

I remember those. Also, I remember thinking that there was absolutely no way I would ever have that much to say.

This is really only if you're behind in the thread as well, if you're active in the thread and are just looking at the last couple posts it takes only a couple minutes to shoot out a reply.

Anywho. I miss when we had 100's of posts a day. There were so many active people here. But I'm still here, and that counts for something, I suppose :o

This is a retarded, useless thread, and it doesn't even belong in the Neopets General Chat forum. No matter what my feelings are about billgates, it's rude and unwarranted to create a post whose main purpose can only be the public bashing of a member of this community.

Oh wait, is that you in your pic, Crazytaka? Holy shit, nevermind!
Skinny hot bitches with Tokio Hotel hair can say anything they want!

Okay, I haven't read all 4 pages of this, but here's my opinion:

    1) This thread itself is spam, it's in the Neopets General Chat Section, and I don't see how it relates to Neopets.

    2) Yes Billgates is heck of a spammer, but there are lots of other users who hijack real discussion threads and start spamming, why don't we care? Because they are older members, so we tend to think that as their post count is high they are allowed to do whatever they want to.

#2 is wrong for the most part. The staff here are really laid back and pretty much just really dont give a fuck. Everyone pretty much says whatever the hell they want and it works.

Tox: I am aware of that, but what I'm trying to say is that users only get pissed when new users spam, and not when regular active users do.

No one is mad at anyone here. One user started this thread. Click through the thread. Everyone here is just bullshitting about random shit. No one technically cares if the kid wants to spam as long as its not nonsense.

    spam, lol.

(In this short message, I want to get the point across that it would make sense if everyone just stopped posting in this topic, and someone deleted it.)
(I mean sure Billgates is spamming the shit out of the forums with pointless messages, but we did kind of ask for it with the 500 posts for advanced thing. Live with it.)

My proposed method to fix this:
Reset everyone's reputation apart from like JC and me ;)
You get rep points that you can give people based on the ammount of rep you have been given by other people.
At 0 - 5 Rep, you cannot give reputation.
You need 10 Rep to qualify for advanced.
This funnel system prevents people giving reputation for no reason, as the only people who are available to give rep, were given there rep by actually contributing.
And also prevents people abusing what we count as spam by posting pointless things.
They must now attempt to get 500 posts by posting contributing posts like guides etc. As I did.

There is logic behind this typical reaction.

Imagine you've been going to a bar every Saturday night for 5 months. You start to know the regulars, and the people who work there. Over time you become friends and everything is comfortable for you.

Then one Saturday night a group of frat boys come in and are all loud, causing a change in the usual tone, and the regulars automatically don't like them. It's not that the frat boys should LEAVE, they have every right to be there. It's just that the regulars aren't familiar with them, and the frat boys didn't have the decency to adapt to the low key tone of the bar.

Someday we might get to be more familiar with billgates as time progresses. Which is one reason why this thread is just inappropriate.

punk: Be kind enough and shut the fuck up.

How about you go screw yourself?

In between Zack and Unseen's crap, you'd have seen most people generally agree with you.
Surely you don't think Zack and Unseen are OLDER members.

Plus I worked hard for my rep :( I actually did something useful for once

I really don't mind if people post a lot, as long as they stay around after 500 is completed.

I really we wish we could be nicer to the new kids. The old kids have the support of like a bunch of friends and new kids don't have anyone. If they say something to us it should be easier for us to be cool about it and let it go.

It still seems kinda harsh to attack one person like this though :S. Imagine coming back from his busy day, coming here and a topic with FOUR PAGES attacking him :S Mostly anyway.
