What instrument do you play? I play cello. I come from a really musical family so I've been surrounded by music ever since I was a baby. :)
Anyone play in a band or orchestra or string quartet? :)

I've always admired people who sing or play guitar though :o

I've taken formal piano lessons when I was a kid for about 5 years, then for reasons that I completely forgot I just left.

Haven't touched a piano since I entered college sadly, but I do enjoy listening to some of the "mainstream" pianists :).

Hey abi :)

I play electric guitar! Been playing about 7 years now on and off, im not bad at it but would never go proffesional or on stage or anything. I admire people who have the confidence to play to an audience :D

What do you plan on doing with your musical ability? Or is it simply a hobby?

I wasn't really good at music =\
And when I was 2nd Grade, I was playing a little and the music teacher told me if I didn't know, not to play :(

Violin mainly but I sing and play piano enough to get me through some compulsory skills modules at university and I dabble with a few other things.

Currently have 1 quartet and 2 orchestras. Got some professional orchestra auditions over the next few months for when I graduate...funfunfun.

It's interesting how something said in passing from the point of view of the grown up can have such a profound effect on a child's life. And people still get upset when someone suggests firing a tenured teacher over doing a bad job ;). At least in California they do.

I went to a music elementary school. Every day, we had 30mins of piano and 30 mins of violin. Plus, three times a week we had musical expression where we sang songs.

I had a similar experience with music in middle school, but mine was to do with other children in my class being cruel :p. I left its study for years, but I've always been interested in it. I took a couple of music theory classes in university and am teaching myself the piano now :D. I'm not very good yet, but I can play my favorite zelda songs :D.

UGH I could kill you, I'm so jealous.

I played viola and piano for many years, and I was decent enough, but I HATED formal training. In my teens I started playing guitar and joined a band, and realized when it comes to music, I just do not work well with others. I just dick around with the instruments at home for my own amusement now. I must say I'm envious of your achievements, but I truly wish you well for your auditions. :)

I started playing the piano when I was 3 years old, moved on to the guitar when I was 7, started learning how to play the harp when I was 12, then finally learned that I loved playing the xylophone and glockenspiel! :)

For me Music=Life.... No Music>Life :D

I haven't played an instrument since 5th grade, when I played the clarinet...badly.

I was a big choir geek in middle/high school, though. At one point, I was in concert choir, women's ensemble, and I auditioned for and participated in chamber choir, and county and regional choirs.

Well, I started playing violin when I was in third grade. I picked up the piano in eighth grade. I've also been in a choir for about six years now. Nothing special. :whistling:

It's harder than it looks, especially on the later levels.
