Strat's Drone Photo/Videography Thread

07 November 2023 - 12:22 AM

Hey guys, been a little bit since I posted anything in here but recently I purchased myself a drone mainly to document our upcoming new house build from start to finish. I thought, seeing as though we were going to be heading away from time to time on holidays too, why not get a half decent one to also take some shots whilst away.

I opted for the newer DJI Mini 3 Pro, a lightweight, entry level drone capable of 4K60fps video as well as 48MP still shots in both JPEG and RAW formats. The video can also be shot in either Auto mode or D-Cinelike mode (which allows for a lot more leg room with editing and colour grading etc).

I have been so amazed by the quality of this tiny little package. The sheer amount of functionality it has to get some truly epic clips and photos is stunning.

I'll use this thread to post my content that I create from time to time. Feel free to chuck me a follow on YouTube if you wish, I'll be uploading content a lot more regularly now that I have found a true passion for cinematic clips. If you have any pointers or feedback, please don't hesitate to hit me up here with your thoughts, it would be greatly appreciated!

These are best viewed full screen, via YouTube or on a 4K capable TV/Display to get the true value out of the clips.

This one was the first sequence I put together using Adobe Premiere Pro. I really enjoyed how it turned out and it showcases my local area really well. I wasn't overly happy with the attempt at colour grading that I did, but I am slowly learning along the way.

This clip I decided to head into the hills a bit more for some forest shoots and more 'nature' themed clips. I also added in some ambient background tracks to complement the flowing waters of the creek and birdlife within the forest.

This next one, I ventured out to the local wine region nearby where I live to take some shots at the amazing bit of architecture known as The D'Arenberg Cube. Located in the McLaren Vale wine region, it's a world renowned vineyard who produces some of the finest wines on offer around the world. The building really caught my eye one day travelling through here, so I decided to head back with the drone and put this sequence together.

And last, but not least, the latest couple of videos that I added to the collection of my local beach and surrounding areas. The last clip in particular is one of my new favourites.

It was while shooting that last video footage, that this happened.....
Spoiler

Thanks for taking the time to check out my clips, I will also post some photos taken by the drone at a later date. Cheers!
