I'm starting to feel scared now. Not for me, but for my country. As some of y'all know, we've got our own Trump ruling over us, and he might be more stupid than Trump. He REFUSES to accept how big of a deal this is, despite all the numbers. This monday he made an announcement saying we're overreacting and that people should go back to their normal lives because this only affects older people. Thankfully most of his voters are starting to realize how much of a dipshit he is, but that's not stopping people from listening to his bullshit and going out. We Do Not have the structure to take care of everyone at the same time. We Need this quarantine. It's not a fucking conspiracy to ruin our economy. It's real lives we're talking about.

 

I'm really mad. Really really mad.

 

Also I might have to join the forces despite still being an intern. I'm still waiting for my school's final decision. Either way I'll accept it without complaining (in fact I wish I was helping because I got used to the hospital routine and I miss it so fucking much).

 

Damn Swar that is so scary and definitely maddening to hear. I'm sure many of us have been watching from afar, I saw that certain cartel groups have imposed curfews because they know your 'elected' leader is a mad man. That really says something. As a healthcare worker you're so appreciated and I hope everything goes okay with the rest of your schooling. Please let us know and vent here anytime!!

I'm still working at my office. Actually more isolated here than my apartment since everyone else was forced to work from home.

we are in lock down where i live. schools and shops are closed since Friday. i'm staying home as much as i can, going out only for grocery shopping. I'm in my 30's too so i'm not afraid for myself as much but i'm afraid for my loved ones

I turned twenty six this week. It's kind of been overwhelming, not because I don't want to be twenty six but because the past year has been emotionally draining af. I've had a lot of panic lately but I'm also happier than I have ever been. I started going to yoga classes again and it seems to be helping. 

 

I got Odyssey for my switch and I like it, not as much as BotW though ;P

I think this can be a really great idea but also potentially disastrous much like all parenting scenarios can be.

 

I see 'forever' friendships end all the damn time I have coworkers, family and friends telling me about how their 'soulmate' best friend and them have broken up. 

I also see the potential for issues arising if/when one of the partners ends up finding a long term partner and the spectrum of emotion it could bestow on an already unconventional approach to parenting.

 

I think in an ideal world it could work really well but it would need to be well thought out. A lot of the important questions romantic partners should be asking before embarking on a parental journey together are definitely questions friends don't ask one another (parenting style, expectations of children, etc.)

 

That said, I'd definitely have a baby with @Shannon HMU

I really enjoyed the last Jedi for the deeper issues it attempted to tackle like nature vs nurture, what responsibility a parent should take for their child’s actions as an adult, which I felt it went deeper on than other Star Wars movies. I thought it was dismissed by a lot of people because it waSnT stAR wArs but I end up hearing that every SW movie is the same from those same people who complain about TFA.

Was it perfect? No.
I really didn’t like some of the side plot BS.
I like Rian and his vision but it felt like it was forcefullly moving away from certain areas that JJ was focusing on which took me out of some parts.
So I am looking forward to his own trilogy of films to see him really flex. I expect a lot.

People romanticize older films when you know if this same film came out now people wouldn’t praise it as much. I just accept this as part of being a part of this fandom.

I also respect what you’re saying about people’s unceasing need to post just for posting. If you have nothing to say besides you haven’t seen them... however I don’t respect saying TFA is the worst, I think I was tasked with rebooting a franchise that Disney paid a lot for, the previous reboot was disliked, and wasn’t going to be a one off. Without TFA you wouldn’t have your last Jedi so it is very necessary. I think there was fan service but for what it needed to be it did the job well. I can only imagine the laundry list JJ was handed that the movie had to include. I do imagine what it would of been had Carrie, Harrison and Mark not returned

Solo (which I enjoyed) is the worst to me but that could be since it is still fresh in my mind

Advanced planning is a really smart thing to do. My Dad is fifty and has his entire funeral already planned out and paid for. A lot of people leave their love ones in great distress when they’re gone because of no planning. Obviously not everyone has the opportunity or forethought for this.

I also have a few letters for people I care for since I used to travel a lot and it seemed sensible but definitely morbid
When I was a child I used to write letters to my cousin who died from meningitis then I’d leave them under my pillow since I thought that was how the mail service to Heaven worked (is this morbid idk?)
When someone is murdered in shows I watch I frequently think that same thing is going to happen to me
Since I will younger I’ve had a will for my Harry Potter paraphernalia, nothing else just my HP stuff

Did I grow up poor? For a lot of it, yes I did. There were many times one of my parents stole my piggy bank money to buy herself cigarettes and then send us to bed hungry because she would feed her addiction over buying a loaf of bread & milk. I've been raped. My parents are divorced. I suffer from mental illness but I'm a middle class, white woman who as an adult has it relatively easy. If I were to guess my 'privilege' before I took this quiz it would have placed in the 70's as a random guess and that was a conservative guess on my end. 

 

As a side note, gender confirmation surgery in Canada is a free process for people who qualify. It is not an easy process or fast as you have to be on hormones for a certain period of time, get an okay from a couple doctors, usually travel across country to the doctors who will perform the surgery. We aren't the only country to cover this cost but just an aside as I saw this come up earlier. 

 

 

Canada is set to be the first G7 nation to legalize marijuana... this is equivocal to when alcohol ended many decades ago. 

Medical marijuana has been federally legal in Canada for quite a while now with sources coming from licensed producers.

This emerging industry is something unlike we have seen on this scale with it projected to topple alcohol sales in our country. 

 

Different provinces are taking to it differently and on a whole the entire country is being looked to by other nations as a blueprint for their own legalization plans. 

Canada already exports marijuana to a number of nations with deals involving Australia, Germany, Italy, Greece and more.

Kanye West's new album dropped today... what are your thoughts?

 

 

I think it's a lens into his mental health and he's quite candid about his experiences...

He talks about how he claimed 'slavery was a choice' and how Kim (his wife) refused to leave & her dedication to him.

 

It's an interesting listen, it's short with only 7 tracks and a 24 minute run time. To me, it feels reminiscent of older Kanye, graduation days even. The beats are really good for the heavy subject matter.

 

For me, it isn't his best work but it's raw and I appreciate it. 

 

I'd love to know your initial thoughts, criticisms or accolades.
