#1874092 Neopets Butt Picture

Posted by Goblinoid on 02 June 2015 - 04:23 AM

Not much of an ass shot but I stumbled across this and thought it was quite cool. I don't think I've seen art of a Mutant Xwee, like anywhere.

#1866691 Gender Identity

Posted by Goblinoid on 21 May 2015 - 12:05 PM

Gender roles are determined by a society at large, and are entrenched as long as the society insists on thinking that way.

I think your premise is based on the assumption that gender identification must fall into either of society's binary categories (i.e. you're either a man/woman), which is false. For example, there are people who identify as agendered (genderless, non-gendered; however you prefer) and people who identify as various aspects of both. Gender identity is often about realizing that there's a spectrum involved, and that it's not as cut-and-dried as the media portrays it.

In short: the answer to the question is no. If anything, it's a way of challenging said gender roles.

#1864682 Do you want kids?

Posted by Goblinoid on 15 May 2015 - 04:44 PM

My reasoning for wanting 2-3 kids is a pretty odd one, and is as follows. My father is a deadbeat who never really took care of my sister and I. Sure he took us to the local pub on the weekend, got smashed, and drove with us in his truck...how lucky, right? There were also times where he'd take us to McDonalds for a quick meal...but other than that he was useless, and it's safe to say I wouldn't shed a tear if he were to die. All of that being said, firstly I'd want to be the father that I never had. I want to be there for my kids, to show them love, and instill proper discipline in them. Secondly, even though I have 48 cousins on my dad's side of the family, I'm the only male with my last name, so it's sort of up to me to continue the 'lineage'. Finally I've thought of adopting a child[ren], there's so many kids out there without a proper home, and who are put at a disadvantage by not having parents and sitting in the 'system'. No kid deserves to have a handicap in life.

I don't want kids personally, but this seems (to me) to be a perfectly valid reason for wanting kids. It just adds a strong incentive to be a good father, and that's a great bonus for the kids, imo. It's certainly a "better" reason than many other possibilities, such as wanting kids only because it's expected by your family etc.

On that note, many other people who posted in this thread didn't elaborate on their reasons past a vague "I want them," so I can understand if Adam was confused by specifically being questioned. xD

#1862099 May MOTM - Nominations

Posted by Goblinoid on 05 May 2015 - 11:28 PM

I would like to nominate @Alexiel for being way too ridiculously generous with donations to contest prizes, and for just being really friendly and giving in general (see, for example, his Coliseum Giveaway, battlestone giveaway within the same thread, and Birthday Giveaway thread).

I also want to nominate @Rocket for similar reasons - her generosity with contest prizes (just speaking from firsthand experience) and excellent job at hosting competitions. :)

I know you're just a stranger on the internet to me but I'm happy that these little things are cheering you up. ♥

#1850420 Free Faerie Quests "Month"

Posted by Goblinoid on 28 February 2015 - 03:30 AM

SO jealous of those FFQs!!!! Why do some get multiple while others get none? BLAH! lol

I got TWO stinking AIR faerie quests. I despise you Air Faerie!

I know, right? People who've gotten FFQs are really lucky... so far all I've had is two air faeries as well.

Darn air faeries need to go and stick their beauty products where the sun don't shine.  :noway:

#1848137 The stigma against gay behavior

Posted by Goblinoid on 15 February 2015 - 08:46 AM

I don't think that it's necessarily always that they want to "be like women" or be a woman. Some guys are just flamboyant or effeminate.

Being transgender is something completely different. It's not about "wanting" to be something, it's about how you've never felt like you were in the right body to begin with. Not being comfortable in your own skin sort of thing.

I have a friend who was born with a vagina, no ovaries and they decided (the doctor and parents) to make her a boy. Obvious mistake, you can look at her and tell she's a woman. They had her taking hormones at a young age and everything. She's since stopped. Technically, she's a male by all legal definitions (Well, she was, not anymore)

I have other friends who were born with both sets of genitals and the doctors/parents waited until they started to understand themselves and let the child decide what they felt they were, and it's always seemed to work out.

Gender isn't really black and white as we've been taught it is. Transgender is a difficult concept to grasp because it's been taboo and shunned in American society for so long, even still is. A lot of people have this idea it's about wanting to "become" the opposite gender when really it's just making your outsides match what you've been on the inside the whole time. It's hard for people to understand because it's wholly an internal thing that no one else can see or experience.

This is very well put.

In response to Adam, I just want to add that the first part of your post is a very common and slightly harmful misconception. It is true that some trans-women act feminine, even flamboyantly so, but that's not really any different from any non-trans Average Joe choosing to act the same way. Men acting overly girly don't do so because That's What Transgender People Do™, or even because they (usually) think that's how girls act; it's more likely that's just the way their personality is and that's it.

People of all stripes naturally act masculine/feminine/everything in-between. (Which sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised.)

"Transgender" just means someone who does not identify with the sex they were assigned at birth - it's not about wanting to be something exotic and different, it's wanting your outer appearance to match your inner one. Or, as Florg put it, it's a general "not being comfortable in your skin" thing. And there are no rules that you are compelled to act out the stereotypes of your gender, no matter what you identify with.

#1847883 What Song Are You Listening To Right Now?

Posted by Goblinoid on 13 February 2015 - 08:33 PM

Never was a fan of a cappella... until I started listening to Pentatonix, that is.
