Warning: Do not sit down really hard on the armchair of a couch

couch pain warning
Like the title says, I did this at a friends house while waiting to go to the Renaissance festival. It wasn't too bad that first day, I could still walk, but it hurt a bit to sit down. It continued to get worse, though. Now it hurts to walk, it's hard to find a comfortable position for sitting, and "getting up"? HA! I have to roll over just to get out of bed now because it hurts too much to sit up normally. As soon as the pain radiates from my tailbone I'm very quickly sitting up straight. Hopefully this will clear up by the end of this week. Unfortunately, ice doesn't really help too much because there isn't much of a bump or bruise there, so it seems internal.
The fact that I can't walk makes everything worse, because I'm constantly running up and down our school stairs. Sometimes I have to run from the bottom up to the 6th floor, which is a huge flight of stairs.

Let this be a warning: Look before you sit down on a couch.

Were there used syringes or concrete in the couch cushions? o.o

I hope you heal soon. Back pain is bad pain.

I think someone put a brick in it.

I am not surprised. When I volunteered at a community center, there were bricks in the couch to "even it out". /shrugs

That was supposed to be a joke, but jokes don't carry well over the internet sometimes.

Do you think you bruised your tailbone? That is one of the worst feelings...

  • Report
I'm pretty sure that's what happened.

Woah! Thought you were kidding!

Hope you get well real soon!

About a decade ago I fell so hard on a concrete floor when I was riding a bicycle that I cracked my tailbone (that sounds so kinky lol). I couldn't straight sit for roughly six months and it was, literally, a pain in the ass to walk, lie down in the bed or even laugh.

Until this day, I can say my ass always knows when it's about to rain. xD

Oh ouch! Hope it heals up soon. If it makes you feel any better, when I was 11 or 12, I went snowboarding on a giant hill, and the first time I didn't fall on my own, a box with 6 or 7 teens in it, came down the hill, landed on me and I fractured my tailbone. It was hilarious to watch when I didn't hurt anymore. Too bad watching makes me remember the pain LOL.

I hope you didn't break anything! You might want to get it checked out. Hope you feel better soon :(

I think if I broke something there would have been some kind of sound like a crack when I sat down. And I think I wouldn't be able to walk at all, as I can now, it just hurts to do so.

That sounds horrible! There's nothing worse than sitting down on something and having it break underneath you. The unexpected impact is almost worse when you aren't anticipating it. :(

The worst thing I ever sat on and broke was one of those inflatable exercise balls... pretty embarrassing. I guess it wasn't inflated all the way and I didn't realize, so I just kind of sat down to bounce up and down on it while I was waiting for something, the next thing I know I hear this huge BANG and the thing pops as my butt hits the ground. Hilarious in retrospect but terrifying at the time. Imagine a room filled with a million balloons and they all pop at once- that's what it sounded like!
