Planks won't really help lose the fat, all your basically doing is building more muscle/endurance there. If you want to lose the belly fat or just fat altogether your going to make some changes in your diet. I always tell people although I don't really practice what I preach eat less move more. Its really amazing how many people think that you'll lose weight if you just to ab workouts. Only way to lose it eating healthier, and doing more cardio. Keep in mind that a average person eats about 2000 calories a day. Keep your intake lower then that and you'll see results.

simply diet, intensive cardio with short intervals, and compound movements (squats, deadlifts).

Well the best way to lose fat is cardio based exercises, with swimming and running on the top of the list.
This somewhat helps build the abdominal muscles but is more to help lose the fat!

That the hardest part to gain for me, right now I'm eating around 4500-5000 calories a day and I'm still gaining my weight back slowly.. damn genes

I wud suggest going on the keto diet to lose fat. U get to make ur diet 65% fat 30% protein and the rest carbs. So it means u get bacon and eggs every morning and you can have all the butter and cream in the world. Did i mention you also lose weight while retaining as much muscle as possible? The only difference you'll notice is that the work outs at the end of the week are piss poor. Oh and every weekend you get to have your carbs ( >1000 calories worth of it) So no fear if you think you'll have to order salad and water when u go out with ur friends on the weekend.

well, it really depends what your end goal is. if you're going to gain mass, i wouldn't worry about bf for a while. if you want to lean gain (slow and treacherous process), then by all means use keto diet as peonyourlawn said.

I'm trying to lean gain right now, my diet is around.. 65% protein, 20% carbs, 15% fat? Working really well so far. I've gained ~15-20 pounds without increasing my body-fat. Now I'm going to go 2-3 months bulking though, letting my body-fat increase up to ~5%. Then I'm going to spend 2 months before summer cutting :D

    Ps. ARM DAY TODAY

I'm like 5-6% bodyfat now but I don't mind if I get up to 11-12% with 2 months till summer. I don't count my calories or anything so I'm not exactly what my ratio is or how much protein I'm getting, it's definitely over 200g though. Yeah, my genes suck and my arms need fall behind the rest of my body if I don't work em, not to mention the endorphins flowing during arm day.. amazing  I weigh ~160 pounds right now.

chew food fully before passing helps digestion along and dont drink with meals. drink 30 mins before or 30 mins after. and stay hydrated. helps reduce water gain

pfft I don't even do arms anymore. waste of a muscle group to work on.

I don't believe in all that crap, and neither does most of my friends who compete at gyms. There are new studies that have shown that all that protein is just a waste. I usually have just one protein shake after I lift, and have a steak with a potato with dinner. I can say confidently with that said I am probably bigger then all the people at the gym.

Works both ways, I know some of the biggest guys at the gym who don't have to work their arms or don't have to have protein shakes, then I know some others who do work their arms, and do have protein shakes. As far as the arm workouts, depends on your genes I guess. For the protein, my thinking is protein is protein, whether it's from shakes or from meals.

yea, protein shakes are a supplement. if you can get enough protein by foods, like by all means i agree with you, however a protein shake helps reach the desired needed amount
