The whole point of this is that my girlfriend is adament is was a gift lol not a engagement ring. The ring was given to her a year ago on her birthday lol. He said she said again. Just need to find more evidence other then recorded phonecalls -__-

Ask yourself, why is she keeping it? Don't give me that "it was a gift bollocks" which no-one believes. She either wishes to keep it and flog it for some serious cash (i.e greed), had feelings for him which neither of you can admit (sentiment) or you haven't told us the full story (douche)

This is why I always say "No thanks" when dudes offer to buy me $10,000 rings.

Yeah, I make my men get me rings out of the quarter machine. Keeps things simple.

How about if they're offering a 10,000 Rupee ring?

I think it's pretty obvious it's a combination of the first and last.

That is still too expensive. I will have none of it.

I think they'd just eat the ring after mistaking it for a rock.

1 Indian rupee = 0.0186 Canadian dollars

I think it's funny that LoZ named their currency the same as the Indian one. I imagine all these people in India chopping tall grass with swords to try and find rupees in there.

That's not what I meant. A conditional gift means that it remains the property of the person giving it unless or until the condition is fulfilled. So in this case because the marriage didn't take place, regardless of the reason, the ring is legally his property and would need to be returned because the condition of getting married wasn't fulfilled.

He might be completely crazy but the law seems to be on his side.

If there was no marriage planned does it still make it a conditional gift?

Why would your GF want to keep a reminder of a crazy ex-BF?

If I had to choose one person's word over another's on this... I'd go with the one who dropped ten thousand dollars on a ring.

Yeah 10k seems way too much for a birthday gift unless the guy is just really reckless with money.

Conspiracy theory:

They did this on purpose so Indian children would be tempted to mow the law in hopes of gaining money. Conditioning at its finest.

I don't think your average Indian family has a lawn.

The proportion or total number of Indian children involved wasn't specified. :p

Snow-blow sand? Sweep poverty particles? Mop monsoon deposits?

Well the first post did say he was earning upwards of 500k a year so 10k may not be as unmanageable.
