On behalf of the staff, thank you for the support you've given Neocodex all these years. We managed to get a lot accomplished in the last year -- and there's no reason for us to stop now. We still have a lot of projects in the works and ideas to pursue. Here's to many more years!
Here's a quick synopsis of our 9th year (ie. most of 2012):
- We promoted two new administrators to actively run the place.... but then it ended up being Hydro and I returning + Pyro.
- Moved the site to Amazon's EC2 Cloud Computing service. Best decision we've made in a very long time. So long, "500 internal server error". So long, pointless restrictions.
- Promoted new moderators. Kway resigned from programming shortly after, but can still be found on IRC.
- We introduced Advanced+, a permanent form of Advanced where users can get voted in for life.
- Neocodex became a registered corporation in the USA.
- Neocodex started selling Neocash cards to players who either could not find NC cards in their country, or who wanted the convenience of an instantly delivered code.
- Hydro introduced a system where users can fill out surveys for store credit.
- Pyro and I added automatic bug reporting to the Program Manager, so that users didn't necessarily have to submit bugs manually any more. We regret to inform you all that there are thousands of bug submissions that will hopefully be dealt with soon. xD
- We gave users the ability to create blogs.
- We axed negative reputation points.
- Neocodex introduced tighter security for the store (on top of the existing security there was).
- Tooltips and speed enhancements on the database download for Abrosia -- people love tooltips and speed.
- Ended the year with a New Years release -- Neocodex RemoteControl, which allows users with an Advanced Member subscription to remotely control the Program Manager from anywhere, including from mobile devices.
- Broke some more website traffic records. Presently, Neocodex is the busiest it's ever been in history (traffic-wise).
- Reached a volume of 250 million prices submitted to our Items Database.
Waser and I wanted to start Neocodex's 10th year with a special release -- however, I found out a week ago that I have to write a research paper, so I didn't get around to finishing it. Pictures will have to do justice for now.
It's almost done -- just the portfolio reports section needs to be fixed up, and you can thank Waser Lave once it's released since he did pretty much all of this project. The development (and eventual release) of the stock market application is part of our Google-esque attitude that data is the path to awesomeness.
We'll make an announcement once it's actually ready.
