A hijacking certainly makes more sense than most of the random theories being put about. :p Of course it doesn't mean that they didn't crash later on but it explains why they aren't in the areas where they would have been if it had just crashed/exploded where contact was lost.

"Evidence is consistent with someone acting deliberately from inside the plane," he said, officially confirming the plane's disappearance was not caused by an accident."

I mean, it definitely does make the most sense considering it wasn't found anywhere near where it was supposed to be. Like you said, could have crashed later, but someone definitely had to have veered it off course. I just feel like if it was an actual hijacking/hostage situation, someone would have made contact with officials already?

A hijacking doesn't necessarily mean they're interested in a ransom. We've seen what other people have decided to do with large planes in the past...

Though if terrorism was the main goal, wouldn't the plane have crashed already? It seems unlikely that a plane would be hijacked and no SOS or anything goes out, unless it was the pilot doing the hijacking.

I'm gonna be hesitant to fly for a very long time

They could be saving the plane for something bigger. i.e filling it with explosives with the intent to crash into/destroy something else.

If terrorism is the main goal (and we don't know that it is) then it would depend on the end target and if it was within range with the amount of fuel available. For the main kind of people who would hijack a plane for that purpose there's probably not that many interesting targets within ~5 hours of Malaysia.

I still think it's probably most likely that it's crashed somewhere.

OH GEEZ, that's a very scary thought! Do you think they'd kill off the plane passengers? How do people even think of this stuff.... obviously I'm really naive and believe that bad people don't exist :(

    EDIT: 700 posts WHEW!

I watch too much TV :/

I'm with Waser, I think the plane is crashed somewhere. But we won't know until something bad happens or they find the wreckage.

If I this were a terror plot, I would say they are doing a very good job, with hijacking the plane and landing it somewhere remote, refueling and doing god knows what else waiting for the time to strike again. I'd also think they killed all the passengers as well.

If it was hijacked I highly doubt it was to get ransom money...the plane alone is worth more than any country would pay for hostages...if they were just looking for money they would probably get rid of the passengers and sell the plane (you might be thinking who buys a plane?)...Who knows, you can sell anything on the black market...

Do I really think this is the reason behind it...Not at all...but it's just another scenario

I just read that! It seems like the general consensus is that the pilot may have done this, how long before a new person of interest arrives?

Who says a movie isn't already in production....Or already made haven't you seen Nonstop? There's a possibility this whole thing is a giant publicity stunt.

    Too soon?

I think both pilots are being investigated. They could have been bred for this?

I am a Hongkonger and I am feeling even sympathetic for my compatriots involved in this indicient. Wish god bless the passenger on the plane, yet the survival chance is slim.

The Malaysian government, however, has repeatedly refused the Interpol to help check the missing airliner. Thus, their suspicious acts seemed to reveal a political intrigue behind. In addition to their concealment of the incident, maybe the incident itself is already a movie, the plot of which will get to the bottom very soon I would say. It might be inappropriate to make any affirmed comment - I am just expressing my wild guess and compassion to my missing compatriots though.

Experts are saying that at least some debris should be floating on the water, if it exploded. Apparently some parts of the plane are like floating devices - the wings perhaps? Though I remember reading somewhere that salt water swallows parts up fairly quickly?

How about those floatation devices in the seats?

I'm still favoring the crash theory, but I keep catching interviews with airline officials and regulators saying things like "there's no way both transponders fail" and "the 777 is an exceptionally reliable aircraft."

That sort of certainty (if anything is certain) lends credibility to the hijacking theory. But if so, where are the demands? And where did they land? The Bekaa Valley is a long way away, and North Korea isn't much closer. There aren't many states that are still willing to harbor terrorists. Then again, China is one of the top purveyors of state-sponsored terrorism, and that's where the plane was headed in the first place.

    A mystery, to be sure.

Read about the possible political motivation behind this, though the pilot's closest affiliations deny any of it.

Also read that there was a "significant shipment" of lithium batteries in the cargo. If overheated they could disintegrate the plane. This is nothing new apparently.
