About Me
Hi there! Long-time Neopets user here. I play because I love writing stories and drawing pictures of my pets. Each of my four pets on my main has a very unique origin story; I hope to get their tales into the Times someday!
I used to love the game, but in-game inflation, an overabundance of cheating, and the money-grubbing/lack of caring by TNT landed me here. I want to enjoy the game again, and it seems like the old adage "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" applies quite well at Neocodex. Therefore... here I am!
In real life, I'm a 20-something living in sunny Southern California. I'm a proud student of sociocultural anthropology at one of America's top public universities (not saying which!). I normally work as a web programmer for a living, but right now I'm doing cool stuff for a psychiatry lab -- I get to run MRIs on U.S. Marines and Navy SEALs and then analyze their brains!
I have two cats at home; they're both named after characters in my favorite books. My older one is fat and lazy, but he's very fast and incredibly smart -- I respect him almost as much as I do some people. The little one is a therapy cat! He goes to hospitals and cheers up the sick and the elderly. He's dumb as a box of rocks, but he's a sweet little guy.
I live with my boyfriend, who's an engineer. He thinks I'm a major dork for playing Neopets, but he plays Diablo III 4+ hours a day, so he can't poke too much fun! ![]()
I love reading, writing, drawing, night hiking, bouldering, swimming, traveling, and being sarcastic. Generally, I try to be a nice person.
Feel free to message me anytime! Until then, I leave you with photos of my two boys!

Things that've made me remove people from my news feed:
"We bought new curtains! Praise the Lord, who is so good to us!"
Nope -- not sarcastic. He was just extra-Jeebus-y. Lemme tell ya, this got old fast.
"Yay! Emily just went pee pee and poo poo in the big girl toilet!"
This one came with a photo. Need I explain further?
"This country [the US] was founded by Christians on Christian ideals!"
Say what you want, I s'pose, as it is your Facebook... but I will not tolerate willful ignorance about American history. You're fucking with the wrong archaeologist when you do that.
"Oh, I'm so mad/heartbroken/excited/et cetera! Don't ask me why! I'm just gonna make vague statements to that effect so that you'll wonder about my magnificently busy and mysterious life!"
Yeah, fuck that shit. This is why I blocked my little sister's updates.

Should be obvious why this gets annoying.

They should do something like Runescape where every so often there's a mini puzzle to complete to show that the user is active.
Yeah, but that's fair and makes sense -- two things TNT is strictly sworn against.

Thanks a lot! It has a lot of good reviews on Yelp. Now I'll be surprising her the next time I visit.
Happy to help!

The whole system reminds me of reddiquette and reddit's flagrant disregard for it.
#1599995 Alodielle's Easy Event Pop-up Alarm (Windows)
Posted by Alodielle

There are a lot of alarm programs out there, both for your operating system and for your browser of choice. But if you're like me, you just want something simple and fast that does the job you need done. This is a very easy-to-install/-use pop-up alarm system that I use. It should work on Windows XP and up (sorry, Mac users -- I don't have anything for you!
- Open up Notepad or Notepad++.
- Paste in the following:
Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") If WScript.Arguments.length < 2 Then WScript.Echo "Usage: alarm <time-in-minutes> <message>" Else WScript.Sleep WScript.Arguments.Item(0) * 60 * 1000 msg = "" For i = 1 to WScript.Arguments.Count - 1 msg = msg + WScript.Arguments.Item(i) + " " Next WshShell.Popup msg, -1, "Alarm", 64 End If
- Save it to your desktop as "alarm.vbs" (without the quotation marks). Make sure that when you're saving it, you change the "File Type" drop-down to say "All Types" or it will automatically save it as just a text file, which won't work for you. See below:

- Close Notepad/Notepad++.
- Hit the "Start" button or "Windows" key on your keyboard, then type in "C:\Windows" (without the quotation marks) in the "Search" box at the bottom and hit "Enter" on your keyboard. This should open the Windows folder. (You can also just navigate to this folder in any Windows Explorer window.)

- Minimize all other windows so that you can see your desktop and the "alarm.vbs" file you put there. Bring up the "C:\Windows" folder and make sure it's not maximized; you need to be able to see both the alarm file and the folder simultaneously:

- Drag "alarm.vbs" into the "C:\Windows" folder. It will probably ask you to confirm your action; say yes/okay.
- Hit the "Start" button or "Windows" key on your keyboard, then type "cmd" (without the quotation marks) in the "Search" box at the bottom and hit "Enter" on your keyboard. You'll see this:

- The format for using the alarm is "alarm #mins message". So if I wanted the alarm to tell me in an hour and a half (1.5 hours = 90 minutes) that the Snowager is asleep, I would type:

- After you've typed in your command, hit "Enter" on your keyboard.
That's it! You can X out of the command (CMD) window -- the alarm will still run. When the time has counted down to zero, a little pop-up box with your message will appear:

You can enter as many alarms as you want to at a time; there's no limit. I myself set an alarm every time I spin a wheel (Excitement, Mediocrity, and Slime) to let myself know when I can spin again. I also set it just after I start a pet's training to let me know when he/she will be done and ready to start their next course.
Enjoy!
