In that case, I wasn't "you" to describe you specifically, but "you" to describe the female population in general.

I've experienced the friend card many times, and have known many people who have suffered the same fate... XD

That stereotype is so frequent in pop culture, but I've never gotten to experience it. I feel let down by society for not letting me be friend-zoned.

    I second that.

Its an instant turn off for me to read something that they right, or to get a text from them.

You see "wat r u up 2" and I just delete her contact details. All I ask for is to actually use words. If your grammar isn't perfect, or your spelling isn't perfect, I honestly dont care. But u, and wat, and all of this shit, I just cant stand it. :(

    argue, you're lying.

i text lyk dis and u nevr say n e thing

The 'friend zone' doesn't exist, hope this helps.

Either the girl isn't interested and the guy can't accept that for whatever reason, or she's a crazy bitch who gets her jollies from leading guys on. Failing that, you're probably under 20, and thus associating with a lot of girls (and guys!) who are quite frankly stupid as fuck when it comes to anything involving relationships.

    So all of them lied?

    All of them?

Sounds like a hard pill to swallow.

It can't be some goddamned conspiracy to keep me single by having girls all give me the same excuse...

    ...or can it?

I'm 24 and have gotten this shit in at least 7 different situations over the years.

Obviously the friend zone doesn't exist. Either your fucking the girl, or your nothing to her. His logic is foolproof.

There's nothing wrong in being single. I was single for a while 5 years ago and I remember twas great!

Yeah.... Why does no one read topics at all?

Hes not saying, "Being single sucks". He says that the selection of women sucks.

^This. About 99.9% of the time, a girl decides whether or not she wants to fuck you the first time you meet her. :whistling:

    Otherwise they're just leading you on.. I'm bad about being too nice to just tell the guy I'm not interested. But if I'm not flirting with said individual, I feel like it's quite obvious that I'm not interested.. Though that's me overestimating the intelligence men have about things like that. (;

You can't just say friendzone exists or doesnt exist you know... Not all girls are the same and not all guys are the same so you have girls who see you and want to fuck your brains out at first glance, or you have girls who would rather see everything you'd do for them while being their friend and THEN show interest in continuing the relationship -__-" People who generalize this shit into a one sided view will never get laid, seriously XD

    This is incredibly true.
Sure maybe my grammar isn't as good as many peoples now days (probably because i live in hawaii) but i sure as hell never use "wat r u up 2"
Usually the girls who u text like that are found oftenly around the electronic club scene :/
And i agree with you inver it does suck being single, but once you find someone and spend about 8 months or so with them.
I think you might just post another thread titled "It sucks being in a relationship"
Cause honestly it does sometimes.. Sure you get to have sex whenever you want but sometimes you dont get to do the things that matter a lot to you.
    Take it from me..
I now live with my girlfriend but she doesnt let me do much anymore than from when we first met.
We use to go to raves together, drink all night, and hang out with my friends...
But now all we do now is drink together sometimes, do homework (college work), and have sex (the only great thing, yet still kinda gets old SOMETIMES).
So what im trying to say is be happy that you still have your balls, unlike me.
My girlfriend locked them up in the chamber of secrets a long time ago... and theres no postle tounge speaking harry potter in this story my friend.

There is so a such thing as the friend zone. I was friends with my current boyfriend for ages until I finally started caring for him in a relationship kinda way. It all depends on the girl. As for girls texting like shit, sorry, but it's been my experience that the guys are the ones who left their brains in preschool. Just sayin.

I just relate this allll back to When Harry Met Sally.

Harry Burns: You realize of course that we could never be friends.
    Sally Albright: Why not?
Harry Burns: What I'm saying is - and this is not a come-on in any way, shape or form - is that men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way.
Sally Albright: That's not true. I have a number of men friends and there is no sex involved.
    Harry Burns: No you don't.
    Sally Albright: Yes I do.
    Harry Burns: No you don't.
    Sally Albright: Yes I do.
Harry Burns: You only think you do.
Sally Albright: You say I'm having sex with these men without my knowledge?
Harry Burns: No, what I'm saying is they all WANT to have sex with you.
    Sally Albright: They do not.
    Harry Burns: Do too.
    Sally Albright: They do not.
    Harry Burns: Do too.
Sally Albright: How do you know?
Harry Burns: Because no man can be friends with a woman that he finds attractive. He always wants to have sex with her.
Sally Albright: So, you're saying that a man can be friends with a woman he finds unattractive?
Harry Burns: No. You pretty much want to nail 'em too.
Sally Albright: What if THEY don't want to have sex with YOU?
Harry Burns: Doesn't matter because the sex thing is already out there so the friendship is ultimately doomed and that is the end of the story.
Sally Albright: Well, I guess we're not going to be friends then.
    Harry Burns: I guess not.
Sally Albright: That's too bad. You were the only person I knew in New York.

Case in being; I find it REALLY difficult that guys and girls can be friends unless it's a long standing relationship and you both figured out in the beginning that no, there was no sexual attraction. My gf has this issue, she thinks all the guys who text her and deal with her "Just want to be friends!" and I'm like, "You're fucking kidding me right?". 5 months later this supposed "friend" confesses his love to her/ tries to get involved in a threeway with us and my gf is completely blindsided by it. Doesn't work. <_<

I never said it sucks to be single. I'm loving being single. I got out of a controlling relationship and I'm happy for it! All I was really trying to say here is that it sucks having to wade through seas of jumbled text and illiteracy in order to find that someone who's both intelligent and beautiful (Because it really is slim pickings over here). However, I think I might have found a solution to my dilemma... No more texting, I'll just push the girl up against the wall and ask questions later.

Yeah.... Why does no one read topics at all?

The worse part about being single is all the girls call you their "man", when in fact, you're just talking to them to see who's good for you.

In my opinion both sexes have people who text like complete and utter tools. I don't use text language and find it incredibly annoying by those that do - it has definitely put me off dating people in the past. You learnt to read and write at school, so why not use those skills?!

I have a somewhat mixed opinion of the friend zone, and complete agree with the Harry & Sally quote. Since I've been in a relationship I've noticed I now have very few male friends, and those who I do have friendships with are gay so don't really apply to this situation. The reason I no longer have the male friends I once did?

    a. Either they were attracted to me and I wasn't - therefore they made the effort to "be friends" - me + boyfriend = no chance of relationship, bye bye friend.
    b. Either I was attracted to them (sub-consciously or not) and once I'd found myself in a relationship I suddenly wasn't so fussed about remaining friends with them.

Another thing I've noticed is that girls just love to post on other girl's facebook pics saying "your hawt" and other variations of it. I could pick a random girl on my facebook and she'd be guilty of that multiple times within the past few days.

The 'hawt' part or the girl on girl affection part? Because I'm in no way going to stop telling my friends that they're gorgeous. I don't give out fake compliments.

Honestly, I've seen more people over the age of ~26 use text lingo then the younger crowds; female and male alike. My dad uses text lingo, as does my mom, my aunt, etc. Drives me bonkers. But then again so is the new hotel being built here that is so aptly named "parq" as in PARK. I've been sorely tempted to cut out a big K and cover up the monstrosity. <_<

Ditto. I can honestly say that I have ever given out fake compliments to my friends on facebook unless they're feeling REALLY shitty about themselves and then my compliments are... embellished truths. Just had a friend whose husband is verbally abusing her so I complimented her on how much weight she's lost. She was really happy.

Well.. you're wrong... But then again, you're a woman so there's no WAY you could be wrong... right?

    Recent article
True, the article may be Australian based but still...

Is it bad that I make fun of the bad texters by stooping to their level?

I recently used the term "totes" in the middle of a fully formed, capitalized and punctuated sentence.

Needless to say the receiver didn't get the sleight, but half the fun of being condescending is when the person doesn't realize they're being talked down to. That hopeless blindness is really refreshing sometimes...
