idk if this was posted here yet, but jumpstart released a statement via the neopets facebook page:
A Message from TNT: At some point over the weekend, as a result of a facility move, the Neopets moderation and filter system went off line. During this period, our moderation team was not able to access and appropriately manage the Neopets community and inappropriate comments that were being made. JumpStart has since taken down the boards and other areas affected as we work to get the moderation teams and filters functioning properly. This was an unfortunate incident due to a facility move related to our servers and not the result of any changes to our moderation teams and we apologize to the users that were affected. We will keep all users updated during the day.
A response from Jumpstart

You can almost the smell their regret for buying Neopets.

Lol, they're going to take the boards away. There's no way they're coming back online. If they do bring them back it will take a week or 4.

Right..."facility move"... What did they move to a shack with no internet or something? They couldn't have taken the boards offline when it was happening, when people were posting about it on the FB page. Not able to access doesn't mean you can't take the stuff offline. You just can't get onto the boards, you can still get into the code though.
Also, "get the moderation teams and filters functioning properly". Did the mice they were using as monitors get tired and run out of food and water?

Jumpstart can't do anything right anymore. I would have said leave the Neoboards up, it was bringing back users from way back just so they could see this chaos.

Wait what were the boards about?

Filters were off, so there was lots of cussing, talks about sex, and one guy was posting porn on his UL. Just a lot of stuff.
I don't know if this is the case for everyone, but Userlookup is down for me.

I think this is just an example of what happens when you downsize so much that you can't afford to hire people to work weekends. I wonder how much money they actually put into neopets
Also I heard a rumor that jumpstart only bought neo because they got it for an insanely low price.. not because they want to buy the game and revitalize it.

That doesn't make any sense, unless the company had the need to waste money to justify expenses for tax purposes, eh.

Well it seems like a good deal to get a site for very cheap where you have to do relatively little work and rake in the profits from NC. That's what I assume appealed to them

That would be a good deal, to bad half the pets are broken and can't wear clothes because of them. People have been complaining too that they are missing NC and can't use the mall anymore. I hope JS has a backup plan for making money. They bit off way more than they can chew. ![]()

On FB, their last post, says something akin to "We took the NC mall down as we move to ebuy (some new service they're going to use for buying NC, that's not the exact name, but you get the idea)

Did they ever give a reason why they decided to switch how they handle payments? What is it they say, If its not broken don't fix it? They should go by that from now on..

Nothing was really broken before the transition but they decided to do it anyways.

Remember in the beginning when UL's were broken for a really long time? It's happening again. They took them offline, and when they want to bring them back, they won't be able to.
Next the lag will be back.
Then items in shops will glitch, being unable to be sold.
Then neopets will only show one body part at a time. Like just showing the head or a leg.
And you'll know the end is near when everyone is getting "wrong password" messages trying to log in.
The final sign will be the red perti showing up everywhere for a few days, and then disappearing.
These are the signs. THE END IS NEAR! THE END IS NEAR! *walks outside wearing large board that says "THE END OF NEOPETS IS NEAR" and screaming at random people*
